A party was thrown to celebrate the event, but Thorne couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. He made his way out of the forest, dragging the creature from the bush, and was met with immediate praise by the local villagers for slaying the terror. Thorne, with a lucky shot, downed the beast with a bullet to the skull, killing it almost instantly.

Out of nowhere, the creature attacked Thorne and if it were not for it's injury and Thorne's rifle standing in the way of a fatal bite to the neck, it would have made off with him.

Thorne waited for the sun to rise to track the beast down (which he did with the help of a blood trail the creature left behind after being shot), but before he found the beast, the beast found him. He aimed and fired, but only one of his shots ended up hitting the beast. It was only after the fifth night that he glimpsed his potential suspect dragging away their bait (a live goat) set up during the day. After being stationed in the area for a few days, he came across the half-eaten carcasses of livestock and humans in the rolling hills and forests, as well as tracks of a large carnivore that didn't fit the profile of any wolf or bear. When he arrived, he was greeted by verifiable ghost towns devoid of any people, as if the inhabitants had gathered their belongings and fled from the crime scene. In order to quell the worries of their citizens, French officials dispatched hunter Thorne Harris to the Cragis Village, the most recent site subject to these attacks. Wild ungulate populations in the region began to crash only days after sightings occurred, and rural villages were subject to attacks by 'blood-toothed ravager beasts'. It started in 1937, when reports of 'hellhounds' were popping up all over France. However, there is no question as to the identity of the second set of Gévaudian killings, so aptly-dubbed the 'Gévaudian Reprise'. Even to this day, it remains one of the few mysteries that the organization has yet to solve. Suggestions have ranged from an abnormally large wolf, escaped hyena, human serial killers, or all three. Scientists still argue as to the identity of the killer during this stressful time in French history. During this period, the lands of south-central France were terrorized by a ferocious beast with more blood on its fangs than any cryptid known to date (though it's kill record may be significantly overshadowed by the cryptid ).
